Desde marzo del 2021, en la planta de la ciudad de Córdoba de IVECO ARGENTINA, se viene desarrollando un proyecto de tratamiento biológico de los residuos orgánicos del comedor de la planta.
El primer paso fue la construcción de unos canteros o cunas de compostaje de mampostería diseñadas acorde al funcionamiento del comedor de la empresa. Luego, se realizó una capacitación a los miembros involucrados en el proyecto, tanto encargados del área de ambiente, como personal del comedor y responsable operativo del posterior manejo del compostaje.
El segundo paso fue organizar y lograr la separación de los restos de orgánicos, tanto los que provienen de la preparación de los alimentos, como los restos de comida que son dejados luego del almuerzo. Estos, son llevados de forma diaria a las cunas de compostaje.
Aquí empieza un proceso biológico de descomposición. Para garantizar el éxito del proyecto, se va agregando material seco y riego en caso de ser necesario, se remueve de forma diaria, se realizar un control semanas de parámetros tales como, humedad, temperatura y pH. Todo esto, junto con la incorporación de lombrices californianas, hace que los restos orgánicos se degradan hasta llegar a formar un vermicompuesto, abono natural que es utilizado en otros proyectos de la misma empresa.
El objetivo final es evitar enviar los residuos orgánicos del comedor a enterramiento, en donde el impacto ambiental es muy grande.
El proceso ya ha cumplido su ciclo en varias oportunidades y se han realizado varias cosechas de este abono. Nunca se han detectado en los controles datos de parámetros que generen alarma y tampoco se han detectado malos olores u otra cosa que llame la atención.
Solo resta continuar con los controles periódicos y multiplicar estas acciones para disminuir el impacto que generar estos residuos cuando son más gestionados.
